Get ready to lace up your sneakers and join the excitement as Rockhampton Regional Council gears up for the 16th annual 7Rocky River Run! Central Queensland's premier charity running event is set to take place on Sunday, May 19, 2024, promising participants a chance to compete for over $2,500 in cash and prizes across the 21km, 10km, 5km and 2km races.
Rockhampton Region Mayor, Councillor Tony Williams said 7Rocky River Run has firmly established itself as a highlight on the Central Queensland sporting events calendar.
“Whether you're a seasoned athlete or a casual participant, now is the perfect time to register and be a part of the region's most anticipated fundraising event,” Mayor Williams said.
“You can either run, walk, wheel or stroll, or a mix of a few, in each race distance. You can also race in teams, because let's face it - everything is better when it's done together!”
“With registrations opening on Monday, the response has been nothing short of amazing, showcasing the community's enthusiasm to embrace an active and healthy lifestyle.”
“Whether you’re a competitive runner vying for a new personal best, or if you just want to grab some friends for a fun team challenge, register today and let the countdown begin.”
Greg Gabel, National Director of Regional Sales said the event's success is due to the fantastic community support.
"As naming rights sponsor of this significant community event we're thrilled to see the tremendous support it receives year after year from the local community. This event touches every corner of the community from our schools to our local sports clubs and charity beneficiaries. We look forward to being a part of it again in 2024," Mr Gabel said.
Advance Rockhampton Tourism and Events Manager, Zac Garven, said as the largest charity running event in Central Queensland, 7Rocky River Run is proud to support Fitzroy Community Hospice as the charity recipient for 2024.
“7Rocky River Run not only promises a challenging race experience for participants but also serves as a fantastic way to support our community so we are encouraging locals to invite friends and families to visit and participate in the race for a good cause,” Mr Garven said.
